BURRAWANG EASTER MARKET 2023 – Saturday, 8 APRIL, 2023

Taking place on Saturday 8 April 2023 between 8am and 4pm, the streets of our village will, once again, be filled with arts, crafts and delicious goods of many of our local Southern Highlands merchants. The Burrawang Easter Market provides fundraising opportunities for many local organisations as well as the ‘Burrawang Grant’. Further information can be found at www.burrawangeastermarket.com

As with many not-for-profit fund raising events, we rely on our volunteers.  If you would like to be involved with the organisation of the markets or would be available for a few hours on the day, please email Karen at burrawangeastermarket@gmail.com.

Last year’s inaugural Bake-Off was a huge success.  This is a great community event and everyone is encouraged to dust off their favourite recipes and compete in the various categories for prizes and then enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea tasting all those goodies.

Bake-off competition categories will be:

A: Plate of scones with jam and cream
B: Cheesecake – any flavour
C: Teacake
D: Fruitcake
E: Chocolate cake
F: Slice
G: Any cake – Open Category
H: Any cake – Special Men’s Only Category
I: Any cake – Special Kid’s Only Category

Our celebrity baker will once again be Amy Chapman of “Inspired Cakes by Amy” who is a multi-award-winning artiste-creator of 3D and novelty cakes.

Entries in the competition should be delivered to the Hall between 11am and Noon Saturday.  Judging will take place between 12noon and 2pm. The Hall will be open from 2pm for Afternoon Tea. Entries to the competition are $10 per cake which includes free hall entry and afternoon tea – or just come to the hall to see all the cakes and winners; $10 per head which includes free afternoon tea.

TUESDAY 25th APRIL 2023 – ANZAC DAY: Flag Raising @ 10am

The Flag Raising ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph at the Burrawang School of Arts this year with the main ceremony of commemoration at Robertson commencing at 11am.

This 2014 film based on the book “Alan Turing: the Enigma” is sure to please with a stellar cast of favourites – Benedict Cumberbatch, Kiera Knightly, Joan Clark and the inimitable Charles Dance.  The film tells the story of mathematician Alan Turing and his team of code-breakers whose work was crucial to British efforts in WW11. Get ready for a big night at the movies with a glass of wine and an ice cream at intermission and the usual catch up with friends and neighbours.  Tickets available on Trybooking.com HERE

Some of us may recall the festivities surrounding the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II but that would be really showing our age. Whilst it will all happen on the other side of the world, the coronation of King Charles III gives us an excuse to get together and celebrate.

The Hall will be decked with bunting and royal paraphernalia.  So, in the spirit of a village event the BSoA Committee invites everyone to bring their own picnic lunch and bubbles to toast the new King and enjoy a village get-together.  The bar will be open and there will be a competition for the best decorated crown – with a prize; collect your crowns from Poss and Mark at 2 George Street Burrawang.  Tickets are $20 per head on Trybooking.com HERE
